"Challenge is WoTLK Classic Gold a part of it," Birmingham continued. "The world is a dangerous place. There are challenging group quests that are out in the world, exclusive quests that you aren't able to complete on your own, or that you'd have to over-level if you wanted to do them by yourself. These quests will push players to find a partner to assist you or to out-level them and return later, or take them off and move ahead. It is not necessary to finish every single quest in every region. You are able to choose your own path across the globe. So I think that is exactly the game of the past that people are searching for."
Another type of challenge is offered by the PVP, which has undergone multiple phases and metas throughout the game's long history. As with any live game, there will be classes that will be popular among fans, but will be criticized as being too powerful in one era but then be relegated to the back of the pack during the following. The team says that's one of the primary reasons for why they chose this particular version of WoW.
"The 1.12 game is the one we're starting with, that's the primary goal we've set for ourselves," Birmingham said. "We have said that '1.12 was the point where the game was patched the most with the greatest amount of content, and also the more balanced.' That's the level we wanted to have the systems run with regard to WoW Classic."
It's not to say that the game will remain static, but. Although the intention is to retain the game in the same way it was before the 1.12 update over time Players will be able to access some content to unlock over time which will recreate the feeling of cheap WoTLK Gold being an active player when the game first began rolling out updates.
