Square Enix's HD-2D gaming has received a lot of positive reviews from players. The games like Octopath Traveler or Triangle Strategy have really captured the attention of fans of retro games partly because of their unique art style.
In a new interview with 4Gamer (translated via Nintendo Everything), Triangle Strategy producer Tomoya Asano talked about the graphic style, and how it's going to be implemented in future games for the company. When the interviewer expressed surprise at the fact that more indie games hadn't adopted the same style, Asano revealed the reason is that it's a bit expensive!
"It's most likely worth noting that it's priced higher than you'd imagine. In that respect, it's an ideal match to the titles coming out of Square Enix. There might not be much to gain from the other companies that are copying it
