That's the artwork for the box for the exclusive "All-Madden edition" to the video game. It's part of a set of three distinctive covers that will be released along with "Madden 24" come mid-August, with each paying homage to a different period in Madden's long and storied football career

The other two pictures are from John Madden the coach, with that iconic photo of him standing on the shoulders of his players following the Raiders took home their first Super Bowl in 1977. and John Madden the broadcaster, with Madden facing the camera , and the view from the booth in the background (plus some old screenshots from earlier games on monitors behind him).
All three of them were designed through a collaboration between Styles and design agency Cinco which has been instrumental in creating the branding for the previous EA titles, and feature the telestrator-style lines -as well as a John Madden signature -- as well as the "Thanks Coach" message of Styles across all three titles.
"[Cinco] were the ones that actually had the idea of highlighting the 1988 cover," he said. "[Maddenbreaking through the cardboard, or whatever it was, and him smiling in his face that he is so excited to appear on games on video, or the realm of the video game.
"They wanted my artistic interpretation, highlighting Coach Madden, remixing that cover in a sense. They were interested, EA and Cinco. Their attention to detail as far as paying attention to my work, they've observed that I employ many lines of gestural expression as well as a number of bold color
