What's more impressive is the feeling
D2R Items. Because of the preservation of the original game's game logic that underlies every scene Diablo 2: Resurrected retains every element of the game from 2000, starting from your character's speedy strenuous, stiff-legged run, to the whipcrack speed and the binary flatness of interactions.
Diablo 2 is fast. With all the sophistication its character-building and multi-faceted items game, the rune word and all, it does it with brutal simplicity. By using a keyboard and mouse it is only two skills available at a time on the mouse buttons and have to use function keys in order to switch other skills in.
You rarely will, relying only on one attack for most scenarios and enhancing your character build and gear around it. As you are surrounded by scurrying creatures, you go at it hurriedly using potions and spamming them to preserve the health of your character and replenish mana during tougher fights.
(Console and gamepad play allows you to assign multiple skills to the face buttons, in the Diablo 3-style that can help you increase your combat capabilities and even loosen your game play a little; I recommend giving it a attempt, but don't think of it an entirely new game. )The combat can still be exhilarating in its speed, and tough in its bite.
There's a lot math that is happening behind this intense frenzy obviously, but there's a reason (and this is true of other Diablo games and fair enough) the ever-shifting tower of numbers that are increasing has a tendency to topple from simple, painless chaos to teeth-grinding dismay with the flick of a dice roll.
This is how you sum Diablo 2 up - it's one of those games that can be described as binary. It's one thing or another: difficult or easy, gluttonous or minimalist, in-your-face action or deep theoretical thinking. I'm happy to see it kept exactly the way it always was in this nearly flawless und well-specced revival.
It's not Warcraft 3: Reforged - it's been completely rebuilt CG cut-scenes with remastered audio, cross-progression across formats, and the works
buy D2R ladder items. But I'm not certain if it's gotten that old.
