Initially, players looking to play a Death Knight had to play to catch up in the days after when the expansion was released, as the class began at 55. However, anyone else that didn't play a Death Knight was already level 70 and on the boat to Northrend for the experience of the brand new content. Blizzard will avoid that scenario this time around in the form of Death Knights coming as part of the expansion's pre-patch.
